We’re excited to launch the Quality Lab – a new series of collaborative workshops designed to bring together academic and professional services teams from across the sector.
Created for QAA Members, the Quality Lab provides a space to explore current practice through a quality lens, spark meaningful dialogue, and engage with peers who share a commitment to high standards and student success. Each session is grounded in the principles of quality assurance and continuous enhancement, offering a supportive environment where reflection, innovation and shared learning thrive.
By joining the Quality Lab, you not only gain practical tools and ideas to apply in their own context – you also connect with a wider professional community united by curiosity, collaboration and a drive to improve educational practice.
Key highlights include:
- The ‘Step into...’ series, with Step into Quality and Step into Partnerships
- Training workshops on key quality topics, designed for a global higher education audience
- Focused sessions on international partnerships, exclusively available to institutions with the International Insights membership package.
Don't miss Step into Quality - the first course in the Quality Lab series
Taking place on 17 September 2025, Step into Quality is the first course in the Quality Lab series taking place during the 2025-26 membership year. It provides an introduction to the key concepts of academic quality and standards in UK higher education. The session will cover:
- what academic quality and standards are and why they matter
- some of the main terminology
- who’s who in the sector
- resources that support key processes.

This course is suitable for anyone new to higher education, with no prior knowledge of the sector. It can be used as a standalone session for non-specialists or as a starting point for those looking to build deeper knowledge through further engagement with QAA’s professional development offer. While the course focuses on UK quality and standards, it may also be of interest to some international colleagues.
